Literacy
Gladstone Park P.S. places a high priority on Literacy. To experience success at school and socially, it is essential that our students have the ability to read, write, speak and listen effectively and with confidence. Our Literacy program provides instruction that is suited to the developmental needs of our students.
Classroom Literacy sessions are supported by Bridges, Literacy Intervention and English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) programs. These programs ensure that the classroom teacher is able to cater for the individual learning needs and abilities of their students.

The students in Grades 5 and 6 have the opportunity to learn Italian. They study Italian culture and gain knowledge and skills that enable them to participate in simple conversations. Language games, songs and poems ensure that these sessions are fun and interactive. |
Developmental Curriculum
The Developmental Curriculum has recently been implemented in the Junior School. This philosophy places the child at the centre of the curriculum. Explicit teaching of Literacy and Numeracy is used along side the engagement of children working on their own investigations and projects. The approach inspires a high level of student engagement, motivation and social skills and a decrease in behaviour problems. The Developmental Curriculum is based on rigorous research and theory in child development.
